We have dreamed for years about our dream baby. Then I was told I had PCOS, so I started fertility treatment. That caused more problems than it solved, and the various treatments never worked. Then we began to think about the possibility of me never getting pregnant, and going through that heart ache was more than I could bare at times. Then, this past summer, I almost died from blood loss and was told I had a rare aggressive uterine cancer. And at 27 years old none the less. I knew what had to be done, but I was devastated at the thought that I would never be able to carry on my husband's name. Sure there were his family's children, but none of our own. So we began looking through the options. We are hosting an exchange student for the next few months until he returns home. We have thought about fostering and adoption, but then the thought of a surrogate crossed our mind. This would be a way to carry on my husband's good name. Plus we would prefer being able to raise it to be our own from the start. We've had the names picked out for our children since our honeymoon, and I'm ready to put them to use.
