My first birth experience was an eye opener. The way first time moms are treated in hospitals should be illegal, but that's a story for another day.
I was going to have a water birth, at home! The most memorable and magical experience of my entire life! I first met my midwife while I was 6 weeks pregnant for my second child. She was nice and had the experience. For reasons I won't disclose, it didn't work out and I had to seek an alternative midwife later on.It was all about me and my baby, long appointments, lots of books, plenty of support. The best decision I made.
My due date was January 1, *** ended up missing Christmas dinner with family just to be safe, they all live an hour away and with unpredictable weather it wasn't worth the risk.We never expected that we would end up waiting....and waiting.week after week.At 42 weeks even.I was pretty content to wait, enjoying the last few kicks inside my belly.
At 42 weeks even, 4am.I got up use the restroom.Contractions were pretty consistent, I couldn't go back to sleep.I woke up my husband at around 4:30 to let him know this was different than the other contractions. This could be it! I tried timing them, but they were still pretty random.I called my midwife at 6am, her partners were there at 7.
