Gabrielle Union has been vocal about her infertility struggles, opening up in her 2017 book We’re Going to Need More Wine that she had multiple miscarriages before a doctor diagnosed her with adenomyosis, a condition where uterine lining cells grow into the wall of the uterus.
The 46-year-old recalled the pain she felt after being told that she had adenomyosis, and the decision that led her to consider surrogacy after multiple failed rounds of IVF (in vitro fertilization is the process of fertilization by extracting eggs, retrieving a sperm sample, and then manually combining an egg and sperm in a laboratory dish. The embryo(s) is then transferred to the uterus).
