Although I can carry children, my husband and I would like the best option available for a live birth. Unfortunately, with a new test last year we found out that my eggs are no longer viable. We have had this past year to process this information and are know ready to move forward with other options.
My husband and I are college educated hard working individuals who have known each other for 30 years. We both come from non-divorced loving families. We are both the same age, early forties, and have struggled with infertility for about eight years.
Being a military spouse has been very rewarding but has also come with many difficulties. When my husband and I started the process of trying to have a family we were overseas and did not have access to infertility treatments. Unfortunately, when we got reestablished stateside my parents both fell ill and I spent much of my time in another state being with them. They both passed away within a year of each other. This all took place within two years of our return. We tried to seek out the reasons for infertility during his time but to no avail. I was told it was unexplained and that we were fine. While traveling back and forth I was put Chlomid and we continued with hope. When the Chlomid did not work, we chose to enroll in the Walter Reed IVF program. Right before we were to leave for orientation, we received a phone call telling us that we could no longer participate in the program. I had taken a new blood test, the AMH, and it showed that I had very little egg reserve and that what I had left were not viable. This was eleven months ago and heartbreaking to say the least. We are now at the place to try new options. We remain hopeful that one day we will get our miracle to love.
