Andrea suffered from uterine cancer when she was 21 yrs old and had to have a hysterectomy to safely remove the tumour. Once we decided we wanted to have children, Andrea went through a couple of cycles of fertility treatment (her ovaries were preserved which made this possible) and we ended up with a dozen frozen embryos. Thanks to a friend offering to carry one of those embryos for us, we are now blessed with our son John, and we are fortunate to have a sufficient number of embryos remaining for (hopefully) a second pregnancy.
We are Andrea and Don, a late 30s married couple who live in Brisbane, Australia, and are fortunate to have a beautiful boy, 18 month old, John, thanks to the help of a very good friend who carried him for us.
Over the last 12 months, we have reached out to our friends and family to spread the word about our hopes for a second child, but so far no-one has felt able, or been in a position, to offer to act as surrogate for us. This is why we are now extending our search further in the hope that we may come across that special someone who may be interested in helping us to realise our dream of a second child and a sibling for John.
