Explain your reasons for wanting a surrogate/donor:
NF is a genetic condition that Tara has a 50% chance of passing on to her child. For this reason, Tara has known since she was a pre-teen that she would be doing IVF to test her embryos to test for her genetic disorder. In terms of Tara being pregnant, one of the symptoms of NF is benign tumours growing on nerves all over the body. These tumours love hormones, so pregnancy hormones could cause more tumours to grow in Tara’s body, or could cause the ones she already has to get bigger. NF has also caused Tara to have significant scoliosis (curvature of the spine) for which she has had four corrective surgeries over the last twenty years for.This means Tara’s spine is fused, and this does not leave a lot of room for her body to expand during pregnancy. Tara successfully went through a round of IVF in fall *** and after sending the embroys off for testing, we have five healthy embroys ready to go!

Tara was born and raised in Vancouver, Canada. She was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis (NF for short), a genetic disorder, when she was two years old. Landon was born in Tacoma, WA and raised in Gig Harbor, WA. We met in *** while Landon was going to school at Western Washington University and Tara was going to school at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, BC, on MySpace of all places! From *** we would see each other nearly every weekend. Landon earned this BA in history and Tara her BFA in theater performance during this time. Tara also has her Social Service Worker diploma from Langara College. At the end of *** Landon was hired by the Richmond Fire Department in Virginia; so, we did the cross-country long-distance thing from *** till *** We got married in *** and Landon immigrated to Canada in *** have been happily living in Vancouver, BC ever since. Tara is a School and Student Support Worker for the Vancouver School Board. She also volunteers at the Crisis Centre on the suicide and distress online, as well she gives workshops in high schools on suicide awareness, and self-care strategies. Landon is hopping to continue his fire fighting career in Vancouver and the surrounding cities. He is currently self-employed, as well as volunteer for the Tumour Foundation of BC. In last year we added to our family, our Whoodle named Enzo.We love to take him on hikes and to the doggy park. Tara loves to read, especially edge of your seat fiction! She also loves to cook, and stay up to date on the latest episode of This Is Us. Tara’s passion has always been theatre, so whenever she gets a chance she loves to go to live theatre, ballets and music concerts.Landon has a love of the outdoors, so you can find him doing the Grouse Grind on weekends during the Summer.He is currently training for a charity half-marathon. He loves to read non-fiction, specifically history, politics.We are both diehard Seattle Seahawk fans, and Landon is a diehard University of Washington sports fan.
