As a gay male couple, we don't have all the parts we need to have our own child.Overflowing with love and care, but that doesn't make up for the lack of a uterus!
We are a fun-loving (equal emphasis on both parts), committed couple. We've been together for more than 11 years (early Spring *** and married for over 7 (May *** children has been part of our family vision since early days in our relationship, so we couldn't be more excited to finally be turning this dream into a gorgeous, life-chaning reality.
We are both very lucky that we are similarly supported by both blood and chosen families.Andrew's family (mom & sister) is nearby in Burnaby, so we get to see them regularly and he connects with his mom nearly every day.Right now, she's only Grandma to our dog, Bonsai, but she would be ecstatic to have a little human to smother with love.We are glad they are close - in both proximity and strong, loving relationship - as we are sure we'll need to lean on them from time to time, and sure they'll be an incredible Grandma and Aunt.I'm (Erik) from the U.S.originally, so my family is all still there.I moved here 6 1/2 years go, but manage to get back to the Midwest (Wisconsin & Michigan) at least once a year and my parents also try to come out to Vancouver once a year as well.I couldn't ask for a more wonderful family - I really know how truly fortunate I am - so it's tough to be so far apart, but with Skype and the myriad of communication options, we stay in very regular contact. Both of our families know our desire to have children, but we are keeping somewhat low key on this process until we have something more firm established. We feel like we're in the dating mode again when you debate at which point to introduce the new partner to your family! :) Once we take the next few steps, we will gladly share with them as we recognize how important it is to have various layers of support. We are also surrounded by an incredible core group of friends, all of whom know about our wish and will be the greatest gang of cheerleaders and supporters for us.

Hi Andrew and Erik, I sent you an email hopefully all is well. Hope to talk soon.
Hi Gillian, Yes we would love to talk to you but can't see your email. Can you email us?
You both sound wonderful and it so good to hear that you have such supportive friends and family! I find matching is very much like an incredibly awkward first date where you say things you normally reserve for those you've intimately known for years and lay out your true person (good, bad and our eccentric crazies). If you would like more information or to talk more privately you can email me . I hope you both find your perfect person to help you achieve your family.
