We have one genetically tested embryo remaining and ready to go after failing with fertility treatments. We were saving it for a family member who was considering being a surrogate for us but unfortunately she had too difficult a time with her prior pregnancy to attempt ours. Surrogacy is a one shot deal, either the one embryo works or it doesn't. We are also already registered and approved to adopt by Children's Aid as has been the long term plan. Here's hoping it works out soon. It would be wonderful to grow our family with two children.
My husband is one of those rare people who as a child knew and was looking forward to being a father. He has a family photo of generations of dads cradling their infants on a couch which we enthusiastically planned to add on to. He's a kind, warm-hearted and loyal man who often gives more to those around him than he receives. My wife is kind, intelligent and patient. When I say patient I mean she has the patience to teach our cats tricks like sitting on command and high fiving. It comes in handy since she teacher children. She keeps me on my toes with projects (we can totally rip out this floor, replace the subfloor and install radiant heating...) and I love seeing her curiosity. She's also wanted to adopt since she was a child so hopefully we will have two children in the end to grow our family. Our life is generally quite happy. We spend time relaxing with board games or movies, being active outside hiking or biking and spending time with family and friends. We have a large and close knit family with cousins and nieces and nephews we love to play with. We both enjoy food and cooking. My specialty is pizza, I make a credible hand-made dough, and he loves making whatever recipe has caught his eye on online, most recently a mac and cheese chili mixture which was...something. We bought a house a few years ago, a fixer-upper with holes in the floors that we've spent the last few years improving and are excited to get the food garden started this spring. There are definitely stressors in our lives, infertility being a big one, but we're committed and work through things as they come up. It's all you can really do in life and we're happy we're able to do it together.
Life throws you curveballs and we're no different or more deserving than anyone else here. We personally find it amazing that someone would consider such a huge thing as pregnancy for a stranger. Thank you for bring hope and families to life. Please note we're only interested in speaking with surrogates in Canada since the laws here help ensure safe experiences for surrogates. If you would like to get in touch, but don't have a membership like our profile and we will get in touch with you.
