Dear IP(s) Since a little girl I've always loved babies. Becoming an aunt at the age of six I thought I would grow up and become an OB/GYN to help women deliver their babies. But in high school I realized the schooling to become an obstetrician was too much for my liking. In the ninth grade I discovered IVF in class and found out women could also be surrogates I knew then this my calling. At 18 I tried to apply and was denied because I didn't have a child of my own. A semester away from getting my A.A. in education to become a teacher I became pregnant with my daughter. The saying it takes a village applies while pregnant too. My biggest support was my daughter's paternal grandmother who lost her last baby due to ectopic pregnancy, she had three boys already and prayed her fourth would finally be a girl. She thanked me almost everyday for the experience she even called me her surrogate. The bond we created during this pregnancy and joy I brought her and she brought me is something I will cherish for the rest of my life. At 11:09pm July 21st I gave birth to my daughter surrounded by family the best day of my life. Becoming a mom validated why I want to be a surrogate to give someone the same joy I feel everyday.
