Why I want to be a surrogate mother:
I love being pregnant and love helping others so surrogacy is a perfect fit for me! I have had 3 sets of IP's over the past 4 years.My first IP's were from Japan and unfortunately had a very sad ending.At 39 weeks I was concerned because I hadn't felt baby girl move that morning.I went to the hospital and in triage they confirmed that baby girl had passed away in utero :-(.My IM had just flown into town the day before to wait for me to go into labor and we were both devastated! I was induced on February 15, *** and gave birth to a beautiful 6lb 15oz baby girl.At birth, the doctor said her cause of demise was clearly the umbilical cord being wrapped around her neck and there was nothing we could have done to prevent it from happening.The whole point of being a surrogate was to help a couple achieve their dream of expanding their family and we were SO close but I still didn't achieve my goal and I wanted to try again.I knew it would be hard to find IP's who would be okay with the stillbirth and I ended up matching with a Chinese couple in Canada.The mother wanted to use her eggs and after 14 eggs were retrieved only one ended up being viable and even then it was a poor quality embryo.We transferred in February of *** knowing our chances that it would take were low and crossed our fingers.It didn't take but we were both willing to try again.My IP's stayed in contract with me for over a year but did not proceed with any other transfers due to the IM's health so we decided to move on.After using agencies with my first two couples, I decided to go "indy" and found the most perfect couple in Arizona!! We transferred 2 excellent embryos in July *** and I delivered healthy TWINS on March 2, *** boy was 7lbs 4oz and baby girl was 5lbs 9oz at 36 weeks 5 days.I completed my final journey in *** delivering a 9lb1oz baby boy for a local couple in my hometown.I am now "retired" and live vicariously through other surrogates as a Case Manager at the only surrogacy agency in Central California.
