Why I want to be a surrogate mother:

My goal in becoming a surrogate is to help another family realize the joy, challenges and rewards that being a parent can bring. The thought of being without my son or losing him forces emotions to well up that I hope never to experience. The thought that anyone else is suffering that loss or emptiness doesn’t seem fair and I’d like to help in that situation. My expectations would be a stable and sustainable home for a child. Beyond that I am willing to negotiate the rest of the details. I am not open to abortion so come what may I expect the intended parents to be committed and all in. I am willing to do some minor travel within the US, but would like to manage the pregnancy from my home. I am not opposed to natural or holistic practices, but the pregnancy will be managed by a physician or mid-level practitioner- no midwives, doulas or the like, the baby will be delivered at the hospital. My pregnancy with my son was uncomplicated and I delivered him vaginally with no anesthesia. I would plan for the same in a surrogacy unless there were some unforeseen issues or complications. Description of myself:

I am intelligent and outgoing. Admittedly sarcastic and cynical, but more in the sense that life isn’t perfect and if we can’t laugh at it we’d probably end up crying over it. I would classify myself as an overachiever, I was on the deans list with high honors, but more than anything I am a people pleaser. I want to learn, grow and gather knowledge so I can use that information and my experiences to help others. I have a unique talent in that I am knowledgeable in many different subjects and hobbies. I have considered surrogacy before, but wasn’t sure where to start. I’m not opposed to the agency approach, but at the same time it feels so ‘fee’ driven and focuses only catering to those who can afford it rather than actually finding the right match. I am a single parent to the most amazing and brilliant 17 year-old son. I have really enjoyed watching him grow and learn what it is to be a productive member in the world. My son and I share a unique bond and I consider him my closest ally in this crazy life. I am one of 5 children and we are a close knit family. We all still live in the same city and spend a significant amount of time together. My family are my best friends and I cherish our relationships. Even in the worst of times we stick together to help one another out.

Tell me why you want to be parents. What are you looking for in a surrogate, your expectations, hopes, etc. Tell me about you and how you came to decide on surrogacy.
